I know how hard it is to do this, the way that you have chosen with the 72, this is awesome! mal
David Bird: Thanks Mal for all your kind comments - glad you like this one.
this is the best picture I seen today, and I've seen a few. Sweet.

paul.
David Bird: Thanks Paul - high praise indeed!
This is fantastic. what kind of camera was it shot on?
David Bird: Thanks sparklite - the camera is a 10mp Canon Powershot A640 compact digital (point and shoot type). The camera does have many manual options so you can use it quite creatively. I used a custom whitle balance (calibrated on green grass in full sunshine with the IR filter fitted). This gives a nice starting point and in many instances the images right out of the camera - with just a little contrast or levels adjustment, look just fine. For this one I did a bit more work in Elements. I used the Earthbound Light plug-in to give me access to switching the colour channels - I also used a slight grad on the sky. I am finding the camera works really well for IR - you can compose the image on the LCD screen with the filter fitted - which is such a bonus.
Splendid and the dasaturation plays well its role and coveys to the^picture a part of mystery, surreal atmosphere really !! Well done.
David Bird: Thanks so much Florence for your kind words.

Looks like a fairytale illustration. I like it.
David Bird: Thanks Lilith - IR does seem to give a deamlike feel to many images.

I think this picture is awesome!

The trees do look like guardians, almost like faerie or spiritual guardians too.

I don't either know or understand enough about what you're doing to see why Mal has said this sort of photography is difficult, but the results are so stunning it's something I'd like to try out some time.
David Bird: Hi Ellie, thanks so much for our kind comments. Hope you do get a chance to give IR a go. All you really need is an IR filter. If you need some guidance this web site has lots of info and links - http://www.wrotniak.net/photo/infrared/
Wonderful picture.
David Bird: Hi David - many thanks - glad you like it!

I happened across your photos on Flickr a couple of days ago and I'm blown away! Dawyck is a magical place at the best of times, but it takes a great talent to make Leith Links look like a place you'd want to visit! Ha ha!! Keep up the great work!
